If your SmartVault Drive feels slower than usual, it's often due to Windows settings or network configurations. This guide walks you through checking key options and refreshing your drive to restore normal speed.
Symptoms
- Files and folders in the mapped SmartVault Drive open very slowly
- Browsing or searching within the drive stalls or times out
- Other internet apps run normally, but the SmartVault Drive lags
Why This Issue Occurs
Windows may be set to automatically detect proxy settings, which can delay every request your SmartVault Drive makes. Keeping SmartVault updated and turning off this option usually resolves the issue.
How to Resolve this Issue

Refresh your SmartVault Drive

Disconnect the Drive
- Right-click the SmartVault icon in your system tray.
- Select Disconnect Drive.

Update and Remap
- Open the SmartVault Launchpad.
- Under User Settings, click SmartVault Updates and install any available updates.
- Back in the Launchpad, click Map SmartVault Drive.
- If the settings are correct, you'll see a login prompt.
- If not, you'll receive a red X and a link to the Mapped Drive Diagnostic Tool to resolve the issue. For additional information, refer to Using the Mapped Drive Diagnostic Tool.
- Open the SmartVault Launchpad.

Turn Off Automatic Proxy Detection via Windows Settings
- Open the Start menu and select Settings.
- Go to Network & Internet and click on Proxy.
- Under Automatic proxy setup, turn off the switch for Automatically detect settings.
- Close the settings window. The change takes effect immediately.

Check Your Network
- Open a web browser or another online app to verify your Internet connection is stable.
- If other apps work fine but SmartVault Drive remains slow, move on to the next step.
